What happens when you convert.
No upload, no queue — the whole job runs on a canvas element in your own browser.
-
The image is drawn to a canvas
Your file is read locally and painted onto an in-memory canvas at its original pixel size — nothing leaves your device at this stage.
-
You pick format and quality
PNG is always lossless. JPG and WebP use the quality slider to trade file size against visual fidelity.
-
The canvas exports a file
The browser encodes the canvas straight into the chosen format and triggers a download — no server round-trip involved.
Questions about this tool.
For anything else, see the site-wide FAQ or get in touch.
Which format should I export to?
For photographs, WebP at around 80% quality usually halves the file with no visible loss. Use PNG when you need transparency or crisp flat graphics like a logo or a screenshot of text. Use JPG when something older in your workflow won't accept anything else.
Does my image get uploaded anywhere?
No. The conversion runs entirely in a canvas element inside your browser tab. The file never crosses the network, so there's nothing sitting on a server to worry about.
Is there a limit on image size?
No fixed cap. Since the work happens on your device, the practical limit is your available memory rather than a plan tier. Very large images may be slower on an older phone.
