Which format should I export to?
For photographs, WebP at around 80% quality usually halves the file with no visible loss. Use PNG when you need transparency or crisp flat graphics like a logo or a screenshot of text. Use JPG when something older in your workflow won't accept anything else.
Does my image get uploaded anywhere?
No. The conversion runs entirely in a canvas element inside your browser tab. The file never crosses the network, so there's nothing sitting on a server to worry about.
Is there a limit on image size?
No fixed cap. Since the work happens on your device, the practical limit is your available memory rather than a plan tier. Very large images may be slower on an older phone.
Does changing format improve image quality?
No. Conversion may change compression and file size, but it cannot restore detail already lost in the source. Keep the original and inspect the exported image at full size.
Which format creates the smallest file?
It depends on the image, quality setting, transparency and dimensions. Compare the actual exports and make sure the receiving site accepts the chosen format.
